“A child born to another woman calls me mommy. The magnitude of that tragedy and the depth of that privilege are not lost on me.” -Jody Landers
Adoption
It’s the single most uncomfortable journey we have ever embarked on.
It’s also the single most rewarding experience of our lives.
And today…today is the day!
June 25, 2019, is our adoption day. This is a day of celebration!
From this day forward these four sweet souls are forever ours! We are ecstatic and beyond grateful for this season.
We did not get here alone. We have a mighty village! From the beginning of our adventure more people than I can count have held us in prayer. Our tribe showered us in love, listened to our stories, and rescued us when we felt like we were drowning.
Going from zero to four is scary. Loving them is easy!!!
Most families learn how to balance slowly, we are stumbling around trying to find our footing. Our village has never let us fall! We are indebted to you and we celebrate you!
Adoption means permanency! That’s what the celebration is really about!!!
We have been their parents for a while. Now it’s official and they get to stop worrying. We get to provide stability. With God and our tribe by our side we pray they will always know they are loved!
Y’all! Our kids are AMAZING!!! They are resilient, brave, happy, and silly. They work hard, play hard, and possess the gifts of sweet innocence and magical imagination.
So many firsts have been had. Our first Christmas was the best! To see the joy on their faces was priceless. We enjoyed holiday parties, birthday parties, tons of family time and even baseball season. We have conquered bedtime, school drop off lines, and homework. We had our first family snow ball fight, first Mother’s Day/Father’s Day, and the tooth fairy successfully retrieved teeth on very squeaky 98 year old floors.
The kids are rockstars! They started a new school, made new friends, and won the hearts of everyone they met. Together we have established routines. We have laughed ‘til we cried and cried until we laughed.
I’m proud of us! All of us!
It hasn’t been easy! It’s hard, this parenting thing. We have had power struggles, sibling rivalry, and temper tantrums. Everyone is trying to find their place. We have been exhausted, both physically and emotionally (although I do feel lucky that they sleep through the night). We have been obligated to DHS, we have had limitations that our friends don’t have or even fully understand. It’s challenging to co parent with a government agency.
God continues to remind us of how special this time is. It’s our infancy and milestones are being met daily. We look forward to growing closer as a family.
Without further ado, let me introduce you to the “Fab 4”
Isaiah is almost 10. He loves baseball and football. He’s sweet, helpful, and really funny!
Maggie is 9. She loves music and crafts. She is creative, loving, and playful.
Jeremiah is 8. He enjoys baseball and basketball. He is kind, clever, and silly.
Joseph is 7. He loves playing with his siblings and is learning how to play baseball. He is charismatic, energetic, and smart.
These pictures are truly worth 1000 words. They perfectly describe their sibling bond and each individual personality.
We have had a very long, fun filled day. We are thankful!!!
God is good! All the time!!!
