Does God Really Answer Prayers?

Does God really answer prayers?! YES!

But not always as we hope they will be answered.

Sometimes prayers are answered quickly. Other times it takes weeks, months or even years!

It can be frustrating. I know! I’ve totally been there…probably more often than I’d like to admit. That feeling of isolation, does He even hear me? Yep, I’ve felt that too.

He does hear you! And your prayers will be answered! But brace yourself…sometimes the answer is no or not yet.

When this happens, it’s hard to understand. Honestly, It’s not always for us to understand.  Stay strong in your faith, He will reveal the plan in His perfect timing.

Sometimes we aren’t even aware the prayer has been answered. We are to consumed with our day to day nonsense to notice the magnificent glory of God. I’m totally talking about myself here!

I get so wrapped up in me and my immediate needs that I forget the big picture. Has anyone else experienced this?!

Lately, He has been answering prayers left and right. I have to admit I haven’t always been pleased with his response. As time goes by and I see His plan unfolding, I find myself humbled and consumed with gratitude.

Most of you know Kevin and I have struggled with infertility. We took steps to become foster parents. We had hope that God would place the right children in our home and eventually we would get to adopt. God had other plans. The State of Arkansas DHS decided to approve us as an adopt only home. They didn’t see us as a good fit for foster care because they don’t think we are able to fully support reunification.

“The goal in foster care is always reunification. Concerns in your home study lead us to believe you have experienced great loss due to infertility and are particularly vulnerable to being devastated by losing another dream. Therefore, we approve you as an adopt only home.”

This statement from DHS was heartbreaking!

We had been praying for clarity and direction. God answered our prayer…we just didn’t like the answer and couldn’t see His vision. We felt confused and defeated yet hopeful as we moved forward as an adopt only home.

Being an Adopt only home presents a new set of challenges. Different, but definitely not easier. Nothing about this process has been easy, I don’t suppose it’s meant to be.

10 days after we were officially open to adopt, something magical happened. A miracle, in fact!

We found out we were pregnant!!!!

Talk about answered prayers! We really had given up on this being a reality. We had accepted it wasn’t in the cards.

So…here we are pregnant AND ready to adopt! Life is wonderful and God is good!

As it turns out, my first trimester was full of ups and downs accompanied by tons of bed rest. It would have been incredibly hard to take on foster kids during this time. Who knew? God…that’s who.

Now we have safely arrived in the second trimester and everything is going well. We are excited to welcome our baby and equally as excited to meet our other child/children.

We have new prayers and God is answering them everyday.
